About

Vana Chiou was born in Mytilene, Greece, in 1976. She graduated from the Department of Preschool Education, University of Patras, Greece, in 1999. She completed her PhD dissertation entitled “The promotion of mental health among preschoolers aged 4-6 years old: The implementation of I Can Problem Solve Program in Greek kindergarten schools” at the Department of Preschool Education and Educational Design, University of the Aegean, Greece, in 2016.

From June 2017 to the present, V. Chiou is member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) at the Department of Geography at the University of the Aegean in Educational Psychology. From October 1999 to June 2017, she worked as administrative staff at the University of the Aegean. In the last years of her career as administrative staff (end of November 2014 -June 2017) she was Deputy Head at the International Office of Academic Programs, University of the Aegean. She has also participated in many European and research projects since 1999.



Current work and research interests

Currently, Vana Chiou is member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) at the Department of Geography at the University of the Aegean in Educational Psychology. She teaches Didactics and Educational Psychology at the undergraduate level and Methods of Teaching and Promoting Human Geography at the post-graduate level. Her research interests include: didactics in teaching geography, differentiated instruction in mixed-ability and multicultural classrooms, teachers’ training, self-regulated learning, social media in education.



Mostly looking forward to working in ITTS, because…

The project’s subject is of high interest and very close to my research interests. Also, it is really interesting to work with colleagues from different countries who belong and work in the same research field.
